While coming into the studio, both Karen and Alan looked a bit worried….

Ethan, while normally in a good mood didn’t appear to be in the mood for his first Portrait photography session.

As all parents know, you just never know how they will turn up, it could go either way. And luckily for everybody, I blame it on my magic touch!! he did fantastic and produced the best smile….more than once. He probably looked up to his big sister who also did very well as it was also her first Portrait session.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY: Leah & Richie

When Leah & Richie walked in with their two children, Bailey and Dion, I had one look and thought…”this is going to be great fun” .

My main reason for thinking this was that the two boys were not afraid of being in a studio and they also brought their favourite toys as well as Dad’s DJ turning table with them. A fantastic prop to make great family portrait photos. I think they look fantastic and you can see everyone was relaxed in the studio.

URBAN PHOTOGRAPHER: Sydney Photoshoot

I was very lucky to have been able to join Gordon Jovic on a portrait shoot in Sydney recently. Not something I would ever turn down.

As a Sydney wedding photographer and portrait photographer, I am always looking to improve on my wedding photography and portrait skills. Gordon is recognised worldwide for his use of light, body-language (putting people in different poses) and camera techniques, so I couldn’t wait to get started.

One of the models was a male model, as he was pretty much covered in tattoos. It makes for great portrait photography.

Family Portraits

As a portrait photographer and a family / children’s photographer I usually take photos outside on location.

However, recently we decided to hire a studio and invite friends and clients to come and have their photos taken.

EMMA & PETER’S WEDDING

It has been a very challenging couple of months for any wedding photographer in terms of making great photos in sometimes very difficult weather circumstances.

So I was all prepared to change to indoor locations on the day that Emma & Peter were getting married. Even as a Sydney Wedding Photographer you have to keep your options open to make some wedding photos inside.

Even though the forecast was pretty good you never know what it might actually bring. Thankfully it turned out to be a great day and I was able to take some lovely photos at Cropley House as well.

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER: Sunday afternoon birthday party with Lucas.

Children’s photography at a birthday party is always great fun. There is lots of opportunity to take photos when children are naturally excited and enjoy running around.

The weather was on our side for a change, so all the children were outside having a wonderful time…and so did I !

EMMA & PETER’s PRE-WEDDING

Against all odds…

Today I had a pre-wedding shoot with Emma & Peter at Fagan Park. With all the odds against us, the weather forecast was heavy rain and storms…just like the rest of our Summer.

So I packed all my rain gear and umbrellas for Emma & Peter and was prepared for the worst.

Thankfully, the weather held off and we managed to get a good 1.5 hour session for the pre wedding shoot. As with all my wedding clients, the pre wedding or engagement photography session is complimentary.

It is a great opportunity for my clients to get to know my style of working and for me to get to know my clients in a different surrounding. Some clients even use this as an opportunity to try hairdos and makeup to see if this is what they want on their wedding day. By offering this, I find clients are more relaxed on their wedding day.

I managed to get some very beautiful natural photos with Emma & Peter. I’m looking forward to being their wedding photographer and taking more photos on their wedding day.

COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY:
WILSON TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS - FORUM & DEMONSTRATION DAY

This was a photo-shoot for Wilson Technology Solutions at the Opera House.

The afternoon involved a presentation around payment infrastructure for the industry as well as product demonstrations to stakeholders.

Being a commercial photographer requires similar skills as being a wedding photographer. I need to be prepared for anything and everything and there are no second chances in this type of event photography.

SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHER: AUSTRALIAN OPEN OF SURFING 2012

What a great way of spending an afternoon, being on Manly Beach, taking photos of the first Australian Open of Surfing.

I really enjoyed doing this and it is a good opportunity to show clients that RH-Photography is not only your Wedding Photographer or Portrait or Family Photographer, but also your Sports Photographer.

As with wedding photography and other sports photography, I needed to be constantly alert and not miss any opportunities. It’s not as if I can shout out… ‘whoops, I missed that one, can you do it again please?’ :)

Camera settings needed to be adjusted constantly, depending on which lens I used, the light and how creative I wanted to be.

What a fun afternoon, lets hope there will be another Australian Open in 2013.

LORRAINE & MARK’s WEDDING ALBUM

Here are a few sample pages from Lorraine & Mark’s wedding album.

This was a project we thoroughly enjoyed doing. It has been very satisfying for us, that we have been able to help such a wonderful couple with their wedding photos.

Lorraine and Mark came to RH-Photography quite upset, showing what their wedding photographer had delivered to them….it was a poor finish of photos. (see previous blog with before and after photos).

They bought the top package which included a hi-resolution disk of the photos of the day and an album from their photographer. What the photographer failed to tell them was the hi-resolution disk contained raw files (ie non edited or touched up) and the album was a proof album that you could buy from kmart.

So we took this project on with pleasure. It has been great delivering the wedding album they always imagined. We got rid of the flies on the clothes and made the colours more vibrant. Now the album is telling a beautiful story of their wedding day.

Leconte does Hewitt!

RH-Photography does not only do wedding photography and portrait photography but also sports photography. Henri Leconte is one of my favourite tennis players to photograph. You never know what he is going to do next and what entertainment factor he will bring to the game. The crowds are never disappointed. If you get the opportunity to watch him in the Australian Open this year as part of the Legends games…I would highly recommend it!

YELENA & MARK WEDDING - December 2011

The year ended on a high with Yelena & Mark’s Wedding. They got married at Kingdom Hall in Paddington, had their location photos taken in the Rocks, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the reception was held in Zest at Royal Yacht Motor Club in Point Piper… fantastic choice of venue. After having some champers, nerves soon settled down and it was a perfect setting for a Sydney Wedding. The wedding day was perfect and it shows in the photos how happy and in love the couple are. I wish you all the happiness in your marriage, Yelena & Mark.

KERRY & RICK - November 2011

On an early Saturday morning, we went to Balmoral Beach for a family photography session. Evan decided it would be a great opportunity to be a little difficult. I think parents always stress when their children aren’t behaving according to plan and being very cheeky, but I do enjoy those moments.. you can see the cheekiness in his eyes. Evan was just trying to show that he enjoyed the location so much, all he wanted to do was go into the water. You couldn’t blame him really…it was such a gorgeous day. Towards the end of the photo shoot, he did his Daniel Craig pose coming out of the water…well sort of :)
